I have a keen interest in genealogy, probably because my Mother and Grandmother Wolfe kept all kinds of family records and accumulated stories.  Thirty years ago, I started researching my family tree, and today online databases and DNA testing have helped to expand my tree.  I wanted to share the documentation, photographs, and stories that I collected.

My Grandmother Myrtle Lytle kept a diary and wrote in it every day. Sometimes it was only to comment on the weather or a note about who she received a letter from.  The entries in the book are excerpts from her 1943 - 1947 journal.

It gives a peek into her day-to-day life in New Lyme, Ohio during WWII.  She wrote it while she was in her early sixties.  The same age as I am now - which I find interesting comparing our lives.  She kept very busy cleaning, gardening, sorting through the dump for treasures, working on fancy projects, and caring for her grandchildren.  She raised chickens, canned, hunted dandelions in the spring, and cooked rabbits and squirrels.

I was six months old when my grandmother died.    So, I never knew her.  This diary fills in some of the blanks and gives me an idea of what a caring and energetic woman she was.

I added family photographs, family trees, and photographs from the era to help tell their stories.  If you would like to review or purchase a book, please send me an email at, [email protected], and I will provide the link.
